BSA Motorcycles Gold Star 650: The Royal Enfield 650 Twins Rival

BSA Motorcycles is part of Mahindra’s Classic Legends, the same firm that brought Jawa back to life, and as far as we can tell, they want to do the same with BSA and Yezdi. Classic Legends’ major goal is to rehabilitate once-iconic motorcycle brands. BSA Motorcycles recently unveiled its first product, the Gold Star 2022, during a special event in Birmingham, United Kingdom.

The test model of the motorcycle has been sighted multiple times in India. So there’s a chance the Gold Star will be developed in India, but no word from BSA on when it will be launched in India. Between 1938 until 1963, BSA sold a motorbike with the same name.

Engine & Specs:

The original Gold Star was sold with 350cc and 500cc engines; the 2022 Gold Star is projected to be offered with a 650cc engine, which will be a single-cylinder engine producing roughly 50 PS of max power and 45 Nm of peak torque, with a 5-speed transmission. We can also see the air fins on the motorcycle, as well as a radiator. As a result, the engine would either be liquid-cooled or air-oil cooled.

We can see a disc at the front and back for braking, as well as a dual-channel anti-lock braking system as standard. The front suspension will be provided by conventional forks, while the rear suspension will be provided by shock absorbers.

Design:

In terms of design, the Gold Star is identical to the original retro-styled Gold Star. So far, two paint schemes have been revealed: grey with chrome and red with chrome, both of which are comparable to the Royal Enfield Twins and the new-generation Classic 350. A round headlamp, covered shock absorbers, and metal-made mudguard can be seen on the front.

The engine shell is coated in chrome, and there is a single-sided chrome exhaust and a huge black side panel to give it an old-school appeal.

The fuel tank has been given a teardrop shape, and an off-set fuel cap in chrome and body-color has been added. On the side of the tank, there is a BSA logo. On the single handlebar, there is an analog instrument cluster that rotates counter-clockwise, as well as an engine kill switch and a hazard flasher button.
